The complex is situated just 400 metres (less then a 5 minute walk) from the main entrance to DCU, so is perfect for DCU students. Also within walking distance to St. Patrick’s College and Plunkett College. We are located on Express Bus Corridor from Airport to City Centre giving easy access to All Hallows, Mater Dei and other City Centre Colleges.

How to get to Shanowen Hall

By Car
  • From City Centre:
Follow the airport road which takes you through Drumcondra along the N1, towards the M1. Continue past the junction for Griffith Avenue until you reach the junction at Whitehall. There is a big Church at the right. At this crossroads turn left onto Collins Avenue. Continue along Collins Avenue until you pass St. Aidans School on your left hand side. Pass DCU/Helix and take right on to Shanowen Avenue and right again on to Shanowen Road. Shanowen Hall is located on the right hand side beyond the Spar shop.

  • From M50 Northbound: 
Proceed along the M1 until you come to the roundabout that intersects with the M50 (Junction 3). Proceed southbound along the M50 and take the Ballymun exit (Junction 4). At the traffic lights on the roundabout, turn left and drive through Ballymun. Turn left at the Collins Avenue/Ballymun Road crossroads. DCU is located on Collins Avenue 500m on the right had side. Take 2nd left onto Shanowen Avenue and right onto Shanowen Road. Shanowen Hall is located on the right hand side beyond the Spar shop.

  • From M50 Southbound
Drive through the Westlink toll bridge and continue along the M50 until the Ballymun exit (Junction 4). At the traffic lights on the roundabout, take the third exit and drive through Ballymun. Follow the directions for Shanowen Hall/DCU as outlined above.
